24th of June, 2016 BioVitrum organized the school-seminar "The difficulties and errors in dermatopathology" at the St. Petersburg Clinical Research Center specialized types of medical assistance. The event was held under the auspices of the Russian Society of Pathologists. The school-seminar was attended by more than 150 specialists from all over Russia.

The importance of the seminar theme is obvious. Over the past 40 years the number of skin cancer patients has increased by 7 times, the annual increase of the incidence is 5%. According to statistics data of 2011, malignant skin tumors occupy in Russia the first place (14%), ahead of women’s breast cancer and men’s lung cancer. Despite the fact that the skin melanoma is just over 10% of all skin cancers, 80% of deaths are attributable to malignant skin tumors. If earlier the disease was diagnosed in people over 60 years, in recent years, it is exposing young people and even 18-year-olds.

The event program contained more than a hundred diagnostically difficult cases of the skin disease. The participants discussed on practice the clinical cases of dermatopathology, extremely rare pathological processes and cases of non-tumor pathology (tumor-like, infectious and inflammatory diseases). All preparations have been presented by the high-quality digital slides and accompanied by the brief clinical information.

The lecturer of the seminar was Professor, Doctor of Medicine Thomas Mentzel (Germany):
