BioVitrum held a training on NanoString technology in Tomsk

From February 28 to March 3 in Tomsk, the BioVitrum company conducted training on working with the GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler. The lecturers were specialists from the NanoString company and Kira Pavlova, a leading specialist in Oncodiagnostics at BioVitrum LLC. The training took place as part of the equipment project at the Nanostring Center at the Siberian State Medical University.

One of the significant projects of BioVitrum in 2021 was the NanoString Center opening at the Siberian State Medical University. This initiative aims to develop genetic research for more accurate diagnosis of cancer.

The participants were employees of the Center for Biological Research and Bioengineering of the Central Scientific Research Laboratory of the Siberian State Medical University, the Laboratory of Biology of Tumor Progression and the Laboratory of Translational Cellular and Molecular Biomedicine of the Research Institute of Oncology of the Tomsk National Research Medical Center.

NanoString Researcher Ana Ortalli provided training on the GeoMx Spatial Profiler tool with NGS. As a part of the training, the basic principles of working on the GeoMx system and the basics of operating the device using the Cancer Transcriptome Atlas panel were worked out.

The NanoString Center is open both to researchers and scientific teams from the Siberian State Medical University, and specialists from other institutions of Russia. One of the main goals of the Center is to ensure the execution of works within the framework of the competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation on the topic "Genetic and epigenetic editing of tumor cells and the microenvironment in order to block metastasis." Research using NanoString equipment will provide an opportunity to increase the level of cancer diagnosis in Russia and take another step towards target therapy.
