"BioVitrum" took part in the International School of Pathomorphology in Tashkent

On September 20 and 21, 2021, the School with international participation “Lymphomas. Bone tumors. Thyroid pathology. Morphological and immunohistochemical diagnostics" took place in Tashkent. The event was organized by the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology and the BioVitrum company, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The School brought together about 100 specialists in the field of pathology from all over Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The event was held in a hybrid format. Doctors from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Belarus joined the online broadcast. The key speakers of the event were leading Russian experts in the field of morphological diagnostics.

The main oncomorphologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, histologist, candidate of medical sciences, Doniyor Nishanov, and professor of the department of pathology of the Tashkent Medical Academy, doctor of medical sciences, Bohodir Magrupov made a welcoming speech to the participants of the School. They emphasized the special significance of the event for Uzbek specialists, the opportunity to exchange experience and gain narrow knowledge on nosologies.

The first day of the School was devoted to lymphomas and bone tumors. Dmitry Konovalov, Ph.D., Head of the Pathology Department of the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, presented the general principles of the classification of lymphomas, separately considered Hodgkin's lymphomas, lymphoblastic lymphomas, mature B-linear lymphomas and other types of this pathology.

Head of the Pathology Department, Pathologist, Russian Children's Clinical Hospital named after Nikolay Pirogov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Dmitry Rogozhin told the participants of the event about the basic principles of diagnosing bone tumors. Differential diagnosis of giant cell bone lesions was separately touched upon. The speaker finished his speech with a slide-seminar with an analysis of complex and rare diagnostic cases.

On the second day of the School, the key topics were thyroid pathology and cytological diagnostics. Pathologist, Vice President of the Russian Society of Oncopathologists, Member of the Board of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Society of Pathologists, Director of the National Center for Clinical Morphological Diagnostics, Ph.D., Sergey Vorobiev considered the features of tumor and non-tumor pathologies of the thyroid gland. The cytological classification of the Bethesda system of the thyroid gland was also highlighted. Analysis of practical cases aroused particular interest among Uzbek specialists.

Deputy Director of the National Center for Clinical Morphological Diagnostics, doctor of clinical laboratory diagnostics, current member of the International Academy of Cytology, Evgenia Kozorezova, presented a report on the modern possibilities of cytological diagnostics in oncological practice.

BioVitrum" presented at the event a comprehensive solution for pathology departments. 

At the company's booth were presented reagents and consumables of our own production for all stages of sample preparation. BioVitrum presented equipment for the laboratory automation from the world manufacturer Sakura. Automation of processes makes it possible to obtain a preparation of standard reproducible quality, to optimize the working time of laboratory technicians. This is even more important with growing research flows and shorter diagnostic times.

The attention of specialists in the field of cytology was attracted by dyes for staining according to Papanicolaou. Pap-test is the best for gynecological smears, as it allows you to assess the degree of maturation of the cytoplasm. 

The School “Lymphomas. Bone tumors. Thyroid pathology. Morphological and Immunohistochemical Diagnostics” has become an important event for the medical community of Uzbekistan. During two days of a rich scientific program, Uzbek specialists were able to listen to relevant and important lectures, take part in a practical analysis of cases, exchange experiences, enter into scientific discussions with speakers and get answers to their questions. At the end of the two days of the School, the organizers and lecturers received many thanks from their Uzbek colleagues.
