BioVitrum conducted the scientific-practical seminar "Modern diagnostic methods in the bacteriological laboratory"

BioVitrum recently organized a scientific workshop for bacteriologists at the St. Petersburg-based Federal Bacteriology Institute with the participation of the Russian Ministry of Health. The theme of the seminar was "Modern methods of diagnosis in the bacteriological laboratory."

The seminar consisted of theoretical and practical parts.
The theoretical part included several reports:

I. "Modern diagnostic methods in the bacteriological laboratory"
Speaker - representative of Thermo Fisher Scientific (Oxoid, Remel - UK, USA ) - Ricardo Almeida
The report included information about the different diagnostic methods for clinical microbiology and products associated with these methods.
II. "Automation in the bacteriological laboratory"
Speaker - BioVitrum microbiology specialist Olesya Ekimova. Presented information on VersaTrek 240/528 and SENSITITRE analyzers.

III. "Laboratory Information Systems" CGM Analytix (Sweden)
Speaker - representative of SimBioLab (MED-IT Answers Ltd), Olga Kalinina. Presented information on optimizing the bacteriological laboratory using modern information systems.
The practical part of the seminar included a demonstration of diagnostic kits from Oxoid, Remel, which were prepared in the laboratory, and a discussion of the principles of working with these products. As well there was a demonstration in the laboratory of the VersaTREK, Trek Diagnostic Systems (UK) analyzer to determine the sterility of blood cultures and other bodily fluids. Bacteriologists were able to discuss and see the analyzer work and ask questions.
All participants were offered a package of information on Thermo Fisher Scientific (Oxoid, Remel) products, including a catalog in Russian.
