September 19, 2019 the Far Eastern Conference "Actual Issues of Modern Laboratory Diagnostics" was held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The event was attended by about four dozen specialists of clinical and bacteriological laboratories of the region.

The conference was opened by Marina Volkova - Deputy Minister of Health of the Kamchatka Territory.

The conference lecturers were the heads of large laboratories of the Far East, leading researchers and specialists. The reports covered topics of the state and development of clinical microbiology in the Kamchatka Territory and the experience of key and ordinary clinics in the region. Along with regional problems, there were discussed issues relevant to microbiologists around the world - topic of antibiotic resistance: the main problem that microbiologists face in this area, and possible solutions.

The report on the use of control strains in the daily laboratory work was of great interest to the conference participants. The lecturer talked about the strains origin, the features of their storage and other important aspects.

The senior specialist of the Microbiology department of BioVitrum, Lyubov Revina, presented to the audience modern trends and solutions for bacteriological laboratories. The conference participants were able to take part in a master class on the use of chromogenic culture media for the identification of clinically important microorganisms. The specialists learned about the possibilities of assessing the growth properties of ready-made blood multicomponent nutrient media and were able to ask questions.

During the master class, experts mastered the practical skills of working with ready-made media in Petri dishes Sredoff of BioVitrum own production. Today 18 types of microbiological media are presented in the company range. Among them there are unique agars with horse and sheep blood for fastidious microorganisms, selective and differential diagnostic agars, antimicrobial susceptibility testing agars, chromogenic media, and agars for anaerobic microorganisms.

All the participants of the seminar were able to personally consider the BioVitrum proposal for microbiology at the company exhibition stand, get full consultation on the use technologies, and take product samples for testing in their laboratories.
